517Name: Meagan McCrystle Soffera

Chapter: Charlotte

Current position: Assistant Vice President, Global Communications for MetLife

How long in current position: two years

First PR job: My very first PR “job” was an internship I held in high school as a PR assistant at Legg Mason. My first real PR job was as an Account Executive at PR Agency, Racepoint Group, in San Francisco. I was the 4th person hired in their San Francisco office, focused on tech and start-up clients.

Where you attended college: Boston University

If you weren’t doing PR, you’d be…… I honestly don’t know what else I would be doing as I studied PR in college and have been doing it ever since! Most likely, I’d be spending more time with my two girls and potentially even sleeping a bit more J

Proudest professional accomplishment: My most recent proudest professional accomplishment was spearheading the media relations for the groundbreaking ceremony and ribbon cutting of our new MetLife campus in Cary, North Carolina.

What is your passion? I’m passionate about creating strong relationships and following through on deliverables. I’m also passionate about my family, friends and exploring the world.

Why you are a PRSA member? I joined PRSA in Charlotte almost five years ago because I was working from home for a company based in New York, and wanted to get to know some local folks in the industry. I’ve since made some great friends and truly enjoy our monthly luncheons as they always offer an amazing speaker and a chance to catch up with peers and meet new PR professionals in the area.

Each week, the PRSA Southeast District highlights one of its 2,700 members. To join PRSA, visit prsa.org.
