“Find Your Story” at the Spring Conference

Greenville, South Carolina, is the setting for the PRSA Southeast District Spring Conference, “Find Your Story.” Highlighting the June 3-5 meeting will be former correspondent and current USC communications dean Charles Bierbauer, documentary filmmaker Poppy Dixon, content marketer Andrew Davis and Kathy Barbour, incoming chair of PRSA.

See www.prsasoutheast.org/districtconference to learn more  about this professional development opportunity and register before May 15 to take advantage of the $299 reduced rate.

Your help is needed

Organizers are looking for sponsors to help defray costs and additional panelists to address “What Clients Want.” Contact Karen Potter ( kpotter@ghs.org) if you have a business/vendor sponsor possibility or know a marketing officer who’d be a good candidate for the marketing panel.

And please raise awareness about the conference with your chapters! Sample Facebook posts and newsletter articles are on the SE District’s website.

How to re-engage senior practitioners

Keeping senior practitioners involved is a challenge for every chapter. Why do these veterans so often drop out of local chapters late in their careers or after retirement? How can we draw them back in? What mistakes have we made trying to do that? Learn what different chapters have done that worked (or not) at the SE District’s Best Practices Call on March 23.

Leading the one-hour session will be Susan Barnes, APR, of the Volunteer Chapter, a senior practitioner herself and 26-year member of PRSA, an APR, Fellow, past SE District chair and former chair of PRSA’s Universal Accreditation Board. Retired from the PR faculty at Belmont University in Nashville, she now lives near Knoxville and says doesn’t do much of anything she doesn’t want to. Now that’s retirement.

Bring your own experience, questions and ideas to the Monday afternoon, March 23 call  beginning at 3pm Eastern, 2pm Central.
